Current Project Activities at Tierrasanta

Activities during the current Five-Year Recurring Reviews for Tierrasanta and Mission Trails will include community interviews, an on-line survey, preparation of a Public Involvement Plan (PIP), site visits to review existing conditions, and preparation of a report that will summarize previous investigative and remedial activities at these project sites, review new technology, and evaluate site conditions to determine if previous response actions remain protective of human health, safety, and the environment.
The following chronology outlines activities that have been conducted to date or are projected for the near future. Where appropriate, the entry includes links to related documents, visuals, sources of further information, public involvement opportunities, and other items of interest.
Additional items will be added as the project schedule is established.

2004-2005

4 November 2004:
|
A Project Team Coordination Meeting was conducted at the Mission Trails Regional Park to get acquainted, review the project schedule and the needs of the project.

March - May:
|
Project team members conducted community background interviews for the Public Involvement Plan (PIP), and a Web-enabled survey gave local residents an opportunity to provide input that was used as background for the PIP.

A mailer packet was sent to more than 7,000 residences and businesses in the vicinity of Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) and the community of Tierrasanta (including the Murphy Canyon Naval housing development) to notify the community about the project and the upcoming Public Availability Session/Open House, and to seek their active participation by completing an on-line survey.

22 March:

A Public Availability Session/Open House was held at the Mission Trails Regional Park. This session gave the public an opportunity to talk with representatives from the USACE and the Recurring Review project contractor, and to view displays illustrating previous investigations and current activities at the Tierrasanta and Mission Trails sites.
